Member Shows in 2006

New Work Exhibition
Exhibition: February 23 – March 18, 2006


This exhibition is what the name states. It is an exhibition of new work by LCVA members. It encompasses all mediums both two dimensional and three dimensional. The LCVA currently has approximately 50 exhibiting artists. The wine and cheese reception for this show was Friday, March 10, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. The guest speaker topic was “How Do Artists Keep Their Work Alive Over Time?”


Lenawee Artists of All Ages Exhibition
Exhibition: May 18 – July 1
Maple City Fest: June 22 – 24, 2006


Formerly titled “Lenawee Then and Now”, this show recently received a change in title. The new show is titled, “Lenawee Artists of All Ages”. As the name states, it celebrates Lenawee County artists of all ages. Exhibiting members are invited to submit children’s work along with their own. Adult work will be displayed at an adult eye level and children’s work will be displayed at a child’s eye level. Adrian’s Maple City Fest will occur during this show. The LCVA organizes several events during Maple City Fest including several children’s art activities, a historical tour through Adrian’s historical district, and informational tours to Adrian’s Millennium Park. This year the LCVA will host two receptions during the Lenawee Artists of All Ages Show. The opening reception will be a wine and cheese event on Friday, May 19, 2006. The speaker and topic for the opening reception will be announced at a later date. The second reception will be a desert reception during Maple City Fest on Saturday, June 24, 2006.


Member’s 4th Annual Box Show and Auction
Exhibition: August 17 – September 23, 2006
Silent Auction: September 23, 2006


The Box Show and Auction is the LCVA’s only fund raising event of the year. Exhibiting members are given the task to creatively make art that takes the form of a box, embellishes a box, is contained within a box, is attached to a box, or depicts a box. The exhibition includes both functional boxes and nonfunctional boxes and all are available for purchase through the silent auction at the closing party on Saturday, September 23, 2006, 7-9 PM. Proceeds from the auction fund LCVA’s programs. A desert reception to be announced will feature live music, tableaux vivant, and actors portraying famous artists past and present. All events are free and open to the public. Last years awards were announced by juror, Rick Manore, founder and director of Detroit’s C-Pop Gallery. Juror awards are donated by local businesses.


4th Annual Holiday Salon: Art Show and Sale
Exhibition: November 23 – December 23, 2006


The Holiday Salon Show celebrates the holiday season by providing works of art for sale. There is no limit to the number of pieces submitted and works of art can be either original work or reproductions. Works of art are hung wherever there is space available in the gallery. The objective is to fill the gallery from floor to ceiling with art! The LCVA also organizes special children’s art activities during Adrian Area Chamber of Commerce Winterfest. The exhibition reception and speaker will be announced at a later date.
